The Latin Ipsa Lagosa (Lacuna = lagoon) was proposed. But the alone form Lagosa, does not appear in any ancient mention. The probable origin is the word Salico = willow, which has given, in addition to the Latin word Salix, the Catalan name Sàlic (red willow). The Catalan word has been changed to give the word Salicosa, etymon of Sallagosa. SAILLAGOUSE ( /sajagwzə/ ) was therefore in the past a place where there were willows.
